From Amazon to textbook companies, to illegally sharing pdfs, to annotated books being passed along, to publishers suddenly halting the publication of a book, the landscape of getting course materials is increasingly complex, expensive, and the responsibility of the school to make the process easy. Learn how Gould used design thinking to tackle the question, “How might we improve or re-design the book ordering process so as to ensure students have the book resources they need?” In a hands-on workshop, participants will explore how to use the design thinking process to map out an area of potential re-design at their school or an area of accreditation to advance. They will leave the session having generated questions to reach across stakeholder perspectives, explored techniques to identify design drivers, practiced interviewing for empathy and understanding, and considered how to identify themes for prototyping.
