In this session, presenters will share their insights around and engage participants in designing for student-designed learning. Windsor Locks Public Schools, a district in North Central Connecticut, have been engaged in a journey to a student-designed, mastery-based learning system for the past seven years. Their journey has evolved over time, and through that process, they have codified a process of pedagogical change that was generated by the teachers. Through intentional planning and leadership to encourage professional innovation, design thinking and a relentless focus on building capacity, the district is now in the design phase of bringing deeper, student-led learning to life. Presenters will share a summary of that journey and present a framework that participants will use to determine their own school's journey to deeper, student-designed learning.
