TechBoston Academy, a large high-needs open-enrollment school in Boston, is three years into using design thinking to transform from traditional practices to a learner-centered approach. Implementing an advisory program, partnering with granters for school visits and personalization pilots, reimaging PD, and collaborating with experts like MIT Edgerton Center have been key levers for change. In this session, participants will follow TechBoston Academy through their journey filled with bumps, shifts, and successes. Participants will have the opportunity to focus, through analyzing leadership moves and evaluating resources used, on pivotal points where design thinking has allowed TechBoston Academy to make significant gains.
